چکیده
Polyalthia longifolia (masquerade tree) is a plant which believed to possess varied pharmacological and therapeutic values among different populations. The present report investigated the phytochemical composition, proximate, acute toxicity antioxidant potential of P. longfolia root. All analyses were carried out using established methods; activity crude methanol extract its fractions (n-hexane ethyl acetate) examined 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay while total phenolic flavonoid contents assessed Folin-Ciocalteu aluminum chloride calibration methods respectively. analysis revealed presence alkaloids, carbohydrate, reducing sugars, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, compounds protein in aqueous extract. proximate showed moisture content, ash, alcohol extractive value, water acid insoluble ash soluble at 8.80, 9.35, 3.28, 3.29, 2.27 7.29% acetate fraction highest property compared n-hexane all assays conducted. Also, was found have flavonoids content fractions. Oral administration Swiss mice relatively non-toxic maximum dose 5000 mg/kg. root indicated moderately high level some phytochemicals with outstanding activity, therefore substantiate use as conventional comparatively antioxidant.

متن کاملExtracts and Constituents of Rubus chingii with 1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) Free Radical Scavenging Activity
The 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity of the fruits of Rubus chingii was studied in vitro. Ethanolic extract, ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions from dried R. chingii fruits revealed strong DPPH free radical scavenging activity with IC(50) values of 17.9, 3.4 and 4.0 μg/mL, respectively. The ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions were further purified by a ...
متن کامل1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity of bee products and their constituents determined by ESR.
The aim of this work was to investigate the antioxidant property of honeybee products and their constituents using an ESR method. Antioxidative activity was evaluated as the scavenging activity of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical. The DPPH radical scavenging activities, in descending order, were: ethanol extract of Chinese red propolis>ethanol extract of Brazilian green propolis>wat...

A reactive oxygen species has been implicated in a range of human pathological diseases such as atherosclerosis and certain cancers. Flavonoids are reported to exhibit various biological activities, including antioxidative and free radical scavenging activities. Several flavonoids obtained from barley leaves, soybean and some medicinal plants, Silybum marianum, Sophorae Flos, Cinnamon, Ephedrae...
متن کاملRadical scavenging activity against 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl of ascorbic acid 2-glucoside (AA-2G) and 6-acyl-AA-2G.
The radical scavenging activity of the stable derivatives, which are O-substituted at the C-2 position of ascorbic acid (AA), against 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) was evaluated in buffer under different pH conditions, and compared with those of AA and alpha-tocopherol. AA was shown to have 50% radical scavenging ability (EC50) at a concentration of 2.2 x 10(-5) M against 0.1 mM DPPH in ...
